Dr J. Alastair Loan joined the South China Mission as a doctor in 1941. He was interned in Hong Kong during the Second World War from 1942 to 1945. He resigned from the mission in 1946.

his Foreign Missions Application and Medical Reports, copies of personal
and official letters and correspondence, and an account of the ordination
and dedication of Dr Loan by the Mataura Presbytery on the 6th January
1941 written by Rev. GH McNeur.
